The human body has energy channels, named meridians, through which vital energy flows. The ancient traditions had a deep intuitive understanding of this energetic body and knew that achieving balance in these energies is essential for optimal health.
Vital force or chi flows along an advanced network of energy pathways that surround the body and consists of two types of forces: Yin and Yang. A disease is thought to be an obstruction to the energy flow of these channels.
Recently, researchers have shown that there are meridians.
What are meridians?
Our body is an energy field embedded in another energy field. Electromagnetic nature has been measured by science through the use of advanced technologies such as ECG and MRI scanning machines for years. Scientists at Seoul National University have recently confirmed the existence of these meridians, which they call a “pioneering system.” They showed that there are new tubular structures inside and outside the blood vessels, on the surface of the blood and lymph vessels and under the skin.
In the research, they brought a special staining dye to acupuncture points that could color the meridians and allowed them to see the fine lines. The color did not appear in non-acupuncture points where there were no meridians.
The researchers found that the meridian lines were not confined to the skin, but to a specific system of ducts through which fluid flows. This fluid then aggregates to form stem cells.
In addition, in another study published in the Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena, the researchers used contrast-enhanced CT imaging at both non-acupuncture and acupuncture points. CT scans revealed clear distinctions between the non-acupuncture point and the anatomical acupuncture point structures.
The relationship between meridians and health
The human body thrives on balance. A balanced flow of energy is essential for maintaining good health and a balanced lifestyle. Acupuncture, which originated in ancient China, is a healing method used to treat ailments and maintain a balanced flow of energy through our body to enjoy optimal health and well-being.
Acupuncture promotes self-healing of the body, activating the immune system or triggering the secretion of endogenous substances and hormones. Thus, self-healing of the organism is achieved, furthermore, balance of the emotions and an improvement of mental and physical health is also accomplished.
Acupuncture is the only therapeutic method, among 150 registered complementary – alternative methods, applied in Public Hospitals around the world to relieve persistent pain from chronic diseases or cancer.
Acupuncture boosts the immune system, thus, reducing the chances of catching a cold or the flu, but in the event of an illness it can also speed up recovery. Research has shown that acupuncture relieves symptoms as it enhances the activity of natural killer cells and regulates the number and proportion of cells in the immune system. It also reduces inflammation by causing the release of neurochemical and immunomodulatory agents as well as increasing microcirculation locally thus reducing swelling and oedema.

Stress can be caused by any disturbing situation or thought that causes frustration, anger or irritation. Anxiety refers to excessive worrying that’s hard to control and often impacts daily life.
Acupuncture reduces stress through a variety of mechanisms.
- It deals primarily with the regulation of one’s vital power, the physical energy known as qi, “Qi”.
- It has significant benefits to the overall functioning of the body.
- It causes relaxation, reduction of tachycardia and blood pressure.
- It creates a sense of calm and serenity, which is of great importance for people in stressful situations.
According to the most up to date evidence, acupuncture is an effective treatment for anxiety and stress. In 2017, The Acupuncture Evidence Project, found that acupuncture had a major effect on reducing anxiety and depression compared to conventional treatment involving pharmacological approaches and psychotherapy, with over twice the reduction in symptoms.

Do you want to be a Non-smoker from the first session?
For smoking cessation, at Satory Acupuncture centre, a complete medical history of our patient is recorded, followed by a complete ENT examination and then the therapeutic protocol deemed appropriate for the patient is decided. The therapeutic protocol consists of five sessions of medical acupuncture, auricular acupuncture and biological, medically approved essential oils and herbs are administered.
The only requirement before beginning your therapeutic journey is to NOT smoke for at least three hours before the first session.

Medical acupuncture is the most effective, immediate and safe, chemical-free method used worldwide to quit smoking.
The treatment is completed in four visits.
To date we have 99% success rate in smoking cessation.
Smoking is a global social problem. A third of the world population (1.1 billion people) smokes. 3.5 million smokers and 19,000 non-smokers, because of passive smoking, die every year.
The reasons to quit smoking are infinite! Smoking cessation represents the single most important step that smokers can take to enhance the length and quality of their lives.
Cigarettes have 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known carcinogenic compounds and 400 other toxins. According to the CDC, smoking is the cause for 443,000 premature deaths each year and is associated with emphysema, lung cancer, high blood pressure, shortness of breath, chronic cough and an increase in the frequency of colds and flu.Acupuncture helps to:
- Decrease the physical cravings for tobacco.
- It also lessens the symptoms of withdrawal and has a
- Generally sedative effect on the nervous system.

Passive smoking can occur anywhere and everywhere. By inhaling tobacco smoke, non-smokers are exposed to the same chemicals as smokers are, such as nicotine and carbon monoxide.
But what are the effects of secondhand smoke?
More than 7,000 chemicals have been identified in cigarette smoke and 250 are considered dangerous, with 69 of them being carcinogenic. Therefore, secondhand smoke can cause cancer.
But in addition to its carcinogens, secondhand smoke can cause many other diseases, such as:
- Lung cancer
Living with a smoker and inhaling his smoke can increase the risk of developing lung cancer by 20-30%.
- Heart disease
Inhalation of smoke can damage the cardiovascular system and increase the chances of heart attack, especially in those who already have a heart disease. Non-smokers exposed to other people’s tobacco are 25-30% more likely to develop heart disease.
- Consequences for children

It has been observed that children exposed to cigarette smoke are more likely to develop ear infections and fluid accumulation in their ears.
For children with asthma, even the slightest exposure to cigarette smoke can cause an asthma attack.
Children also have an increased rate of respiratory tract infections when exposed to second-hand smoke.
So make your GOAL. Quit smoking for you and your loved ones!
Second-hand smoke is a serious health risk for both those who smoke and those who do not. Children are particularly at risk of serious health effects from second-hand smoke. The best way to protect loved ones is to quit smoking.
Environmental cigarette smoke is classified as a first category carcinogenic substance, ie it is considered a substance that causes cancer regardless of the amount that has been absorbed.
Risks of passive smoking:
- Second-hand smoke has been confirmed as a cause of lung cancer in humans by several leading health authorities.
- Passive smoking increases the risk of respiratory illnesses in children, including asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.
- Pregnant women exposed to passive smoke are more prone to premature birth and their baby is more at risk of low birth-weight and cot death.
- Passive smoking increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.
